Impact

The Magnolia Project has connected more than 350 7th-12th grade students from a diversity of backgrounds in four districts across Sonoma and Marin counties with more than 150 local businesses, where they have completed more than 8000 hours of career exploration and apprenticeship experience.

The Magnolia Project is engaging and preparing students for success in their meaningful next phase after high school:

Among participating students in the first two years of our program, 95% of students felt that their experience helped them learn new skills, gain new ideas, and explore new passions, and 80% of students felt their experience prepared them for success in college and career.

Our goal is for students who participate in one or more Magnolia Project experiences to graduate from middle or high school with 60+ hours of Career Exploration or Apprenticeship experience, positive relationships with trusted mentors, a completed plan for their meaningful next phase, and a strong sense of agency to achieve their personal goals.

The Magnolia Project is also studying how our programs affect chronic absenteeism, student engagement at school, belongingness within the local community and feelings of preparation for future success in college and career. You can see the initial results of this study below.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Magnolia Project will connect at least 350 7th-12th grade students with more than 150 local businesses and by the next year plans to reach 500 low-income students annually in 20+ districts across Northern California.
